Halle Marie Callaway

I have not updated this blog in so long! So, now I have to catch up on the last two weeks of Halle's life and the boys as well.

On 3/23/09, I went in to have my first and only little girl, Halle Marie Callaway. I was terrified, as most of you know, I HATE c-sections and they scare me to death, but it wasn't too bad. What I got out of the c-section was worth it all!!! Halle was 8 lbs and 3 oz; 20 3/4 in. She was the smallest of my children, but everyone at the hospital kept talking about how big she was.

She is a precious baby. She is perfect and a wonderful baby. I couldn't ask for more! The doctor said that she is the first baby she has ever seen that gained weight in the hospital. She had gained 3 oz. I had to stay in the hospital from Monday until Thursday. It was difficult being away from the boys that long, but they came to visit me every day. Everything has gone really well except for breastfeeding, but that never works well for me. I am still trying though.

The first few days at home were really good but I was also really sore. It was hard for Kaden to understand why he couldn't climb on me like he usually does. He has thrown a few extra fits here and there, but has done really well adjusting to not being the baby in the house. Connor and Jaxson are wonderful with her. They fight over who gets to hold her next! Jaxson calls her his little princess!

On Tuesday, I had to take her back to the hospital to check for Jaundice, although she never got it. I am a little confused about that, but just happy that she didn't get it. The doctor said she looked wonderful. She had lost weight and weighed 7 lb 13 oz, but was now 21 in long.

She sleeps really well at night and since the boys are at school or MDO during the day, we have been able to sleep in and just hang out. We are so blessed because we have had some great friends bring us some wonderful meals!

On Monday, when she was exactly two weeks old, I took her back to the doctor for her newborn screening. Again the doctor said that she looks wonderful. She now weighs 8 lb 6 oz and is 21 3/4 in. WOW!! She is an inch longer in just two weeks. I did cry a bit because that just means that she is growing and soon I will no longer have a newborn. She is DEFINITELY my last. I know, I know I have said that before, but we have taken care of that now and God will really have to intervene if he wants us to have another! I can't imagine!

As much as I don't want her to grow, I would love for her to be able to fit in her clothes. I have a closet full of clothes that she can not fit into. We are wearing the same newborn outfits over and over. I don't think any of the boys wore newborn clothes for more than a week if at all.
